Blending confessional lyrics with shimmering pop energy, Avery Lynch turns personal pain into empowerment , and reminds us that heartbreak can have a happy ending.
On her latest single “Lasting Effects,” Avery Lynch does what she’s become known for: writes from a place of honesty, vulnerability, and unexpected optimism. Inspired by a breakup and a cutting comment, the track is anything but bitter : it’s full of clarity, attitude, and the quiet confidence that comes with hindsight.
As she teases a forthcoming love song and explores new sonic directions, one thing is clear: Avery Lynch isn’t afraid to feel deeply, but she’s also not afraid to let go, move on, and write the next chapter with a smile.

Lasting Effects is described as both hauntingly intimate and empowering. Can you talk about how you found that balance in the songwriting process?
Thank you! I originally wanted to write something a little bit more fun and attitude-y than usual because it’s a topic that I feel so confident and sure of. My style always gives a sort of sad/intimate tone so I think that might just be my take on a happy song haha.
The song was inspired by a breakup and a painful comment. How did you transform that
experience into something hopeful?
I never took the comment seriously, I just wasn’t far enough from it to prove it wrong and write about it! It’s a topic I’ve been keeping in my back pocket for a while and it was so fun to write about. It was kind of easy for me to make it hopeful because I was hopeful the whole time, but I know this is helping people who are in that situation right now and don’t feel so hopeful.
You mentioned rediscovering parts of yourself after the relationship. What aspects of
yourself did you reconnect with while writing this song?
The situation I wrote about happened about 6 years ago, so by the time I wrote it, I really felt like I had reconnected with myself again. It was really fun in the writing process to look back and rediscover the things I suppressed in that relationship that I’d reconnected with after the breakup.
How did co-producing “Lasting Effects” with Jordanlilvee and Michael Blum influence the
final sound of the track?
Jordan and I built out the song while I was writing it and filled it in with a lot of guitars and
background vocals. I loved how it was sounding but really wanted it to have the clean polished pop sound Michael brings to production. We brought it to him and the rest of the song really fell into place. It was a hugely collaborative song and we had so much fun putting it together.
The lyrics feel very personal yet widely relatable. How do you navigate that balance
between sharing your truth and reaching listeners emotionally?
I normally adjust my story to be more general so that the people I write my songs about can’t specifically pinpoint if the song is about them. I also typically write about one or more situations in one song so either of those situations or stories aren’t 100% true because it’s written with details and feelings from both.
You called this track a ‘positive and hopeful song’. What kind of ‘lasting effect’ do you
hope it has on listeners?
I hope it helps give people hope after a breakup that they can find someone better. People love to use the lines in breakups about how “no one’s gonna love you like me” and so on, and they’re all such silly comments because of course not! This went terribly, why would anyone want to do that again? So yeah I just hope this song helps remind people of that!
You’ve had standout singles prior to this one. How do you see “Lasting Effects” building on the momentum of your past work?
I think this song really shapes the story I’m telling and shows a more fun and optimistic side of my music which is really fun to share every once in a while. I hope it gets people excited about what’s coming next!
You’ve been called a “happy girl filled with sad songs”. How do you feel about that
description, and does it resonate with how you see yourself as an artist?
I feel like that’s a great description of me and my music! For whatever reason I just love art that makes you feel a lot of feelings, most of which being kind of sad, and I think that’s why I’ve gravitated so much towards that kind of writing style. It’s definitely a little funny when you see me live though, the juxtaposition of attitudes and energy is a little drastic, haha.
How has moving from Pennsylvania to Los Angeles influenced your music and creative
process?
It’s brought me closer to people I’ve had such an honor of working with and I’m constantly
surrounded by so much talent and everyone has such big dreams it’s just so inspiring to be around.
What can fans expect from your forthcoming project later this year? Will it continue in the
same emotional and sonic direction as “Lasting Effects”?
It’s definitely going to take a different direction but they can expect a love song :)
